Revenue at north east independent builders merchant JT Dove hit £58.8m in the 12 months to December 31 2018, new accounts have revealed.
Turnover at the merchant, which stocks timber, plumbing products and building materials was up from £52.5m 12 months earlier. Pre-tax profits also increased to £2.4m from £2.3m. Sales were boosted by its Consett branch, which opened in October 2018.
A spokesman for JT Dove said in a statement that, while the construction sector was flat, housing was comparatively buoyant, supported by the government-backed Help to Buy scheme.
“The growth in the building materials side of the business was supported by strong growth in both our plumbing and heating division and direct contract sales.”
