 Jewson-sponsored charity team crosses Atlantic

A charity rowing team sponsored by Jewson has successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean in under 45 days.

Raising almost £14,000 for three charities, the team of two – named Secondoary Fun and crewed by Jamie Kidd, an accountant from Peterborough, and Adam Rowlatt, a PhD student from Liverpool, rowed more than 3,000 nautical miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.

Jewson was the headline sponsor for Secondoary Fun, which represented the UK during the challenge and raised just under £14,000 to be split between Dementia Adventure, T-21 Birch Tree Cafe and Mind UK.

Regional director for Jewson in Wales and Central England, Kieran Griffin, said “The team’s achievements cannot be underestimated. The challenge was not only physically exhausting and fraught with danger, but it was also an enormous test of their mental resilience. Our congratulations go to Adam and Jamie for completing the mission in less than 45 days, raising vital funds for three incredible charities.”
