When fire strikes, the difference between safety and catastrophe can come down to seconds. A home’s exterior can be a crucial first line of defence — especially in fire-prone environments.
That’s why James Hardie, the manufacturer of A2 rated performance fibre cement cladding and backerboard has produced a new video showing the benefits of its Hardie® Plank cladding in contributing to help protect homes against external fire.
It’s A2-rated, which means it is non-combustible, with limited contribution to fire, while the smoke class s1 means minimal visible smoke is emitted during the first 10 minutes of fire exposure. It’s also Class do rated, which means no flaming droplets or particles during the first 10 minutes of fire exposure.
All this means that, in the event of a fire, householders would get precious extra time to evacuate, while the emergency services get more time to respond.
