Hunter Plastics move manufacturing to Kent

The manufacturing facilities of Hunter Plastics, Durapipe UK and Marley Plumbing and Drainage are to be consolidated on the latter’s site at Lenham in Kent. All other Hunter operations remain in Woolwich.

The move is part of parent company Aliaxis’s drive to improve efficiency.

The moves start this Spring with the relocation of Hunter Plastics’s injection moulding and assembly operations from Woolwich, East London to Lenham. This will be followed by the relocation of the Durapipe manufacturing and logistics operations from Cannock in Staffordshire. The whole programme will be completed by late 2010.

Even though the manufacturing operations are combining, each company will continue to be managed entirely separately.

“Like so many businesses in the manufacturing sector facing increasingly challenging markets, Aliaxis must look to achieve cost efficiency improvements and enhance the already recognised reputation of its brands for excellence of supply to the customer”, comments Alistair Vearonelly, Divisional Director, Aliaxis.

“We have embarked on a full consultation process in order to involve them at every stage and the process will be managed with respect for people as a key objective.”

The manufacturing plant of GPS Pipes at Huntingdon is unaffected by these changes.
