Fatal forklift accident at Jewson branch

A man was killed in a tragic accident involving a forklift truck at a branch of builders merchant Jewson on Friday (February 10).

60-year-old Jewson employee David Hewson died after being struck by a forklift truck at the branch in Banbury.

South Central Ambulance Service was called to the incident in at 15:35 GMT and took the injured man to Horton General Hospital where he later died.

A spokesperson for Jewson told buildersmerchantsjournal.net: “We can confirm that an employee of Jewson, David Hewson, has died following an incident at the Beaumont Road branch in Banbury today (February 10th).

“The police are examining the scene of the incident and the relevant authorities will be carrying out a full investigation. Jewson is totally committed to maintaining the highest standards of health & safety across our business and we will cooperate fully and do all that we can to support the authorities, in addition to carrying out our own health and safety investigation.

“Our thoughts are with David’s family at this very difficult time.”
