For more than 270 years, Villeroy & Boch has been significantly shaping and continually driving the development of innovative ceramic materials to create world-class sanitaryware – from coarse fireclay to the innovative TitanCeram material.
Villeroy and Boch ceramics go through several intensive quality checks. Whether it’s the processes of grinding, mixing or filtering, all are closely monitored by the brand’s ceramic experts to ensure each material meets the highest quality standards.
Ceramic products are put through up to 25 tests and procedures to ensure they meet the high standards for which Villeroy & Boch is famed. No detail is overlooked, and every edge and line is accurately crafted into the perfect form, including hand finished details to ensure the finished piece is a masterpiece of precision and craftmanship.
TitanCeram is made through a fusion of natural raw materials such as feldspar, quartz, clay and titanium dioxide. This completely unique kind of material, which has all of the properties of high-quality ceramics yet is unusually strong, has opened the doors to an abundance of new design possibilities. Fine walls and precise edges are now designs which can be seen on a number of Villeroy & Boch collections including Finion, Antheus and Memento 2.0.
The award-winning eight-sided Octagon washbasin is a perfect example of the new design horizons opened up by the TitanCeram material and combines premium and delicate shapes with narrow radii and precise edges. It’s these features that transform the inside of the Octagon pedestal washbasin into an eight-sided figure with refined facets reminiscent of polished crystal. Octagon designer, Kai Steffan, says of the innovative material: “TitanCeram allows the production of sanitaryware products with exceptionally precise shapes, extra thin walls and clearly defined edges.”
Not only used in the premium range, this year the TitanCeram material features in Villeroy & Boch’s core collections for the first time. The Collaro collection fully demonstrates the advantages of TitanCeram, with skilfully designed washbasins showing how the high-quality ceramic material combines extraordinary strength with a timeless look.u
TitanGlaze is another example of the Villeroy & Boch’s commitment to ceramic excellence. Ceramics coated in TitanGlaze have a matt look that gives ceramics a modern design while also being very durable.
As the first colour for the new TitanGlaze glaze, Stone White delivers a ceramic which is bright white with a velvety matt surface. Villeroy and Boch focuses not only on a strong design but also on outstanding quality when it comes to sanitaryware, and all pieces coated with TitanGlaze remain scratch-resistant and impact-resistant for years to come.
