CCF invests in drive to net zero

Insulation, drywall and ceiling product distributor, CCF, part of Travis Perkins Plc, is leading the way on the road to net zero by trialling a new carbon reporting service for its customers.

CCF invests in new carbon reporting tool 002

The company is in the process of trialling its comprehensive new carbon reporting system with a panel of key customers who are working on large projects across the country to gather as much data as possible. The new tool will provide information on the carbon emissions relating specifically to the delivery of products to site but going forwards it will also include the embodied carbon of the products to give insight and transparency to enable decision makers to make tangible carbon savings.

Involving CCF’s customers in the process is critical to make sure the new reporting tool will be both useful and usable – ensuring it will deliver the results and drive the changes needed so that as the construction industry can hit the net zero targets by 2050. As part of this, CCF is collaborating closely with key customers to help shape CCF’s carbon reporting tool and effectively co-create a report that works for everyone.

Colin Porterfield, national sales director from CCF, said: “In direct response to our customers, we have developed our carbon reporting tool to provide accurate carbon data to help them as we all work together to achieve net zero. For the first time in the industry our customers will be able to see the amount of carbon generated as part of our deliveries to construction sites.”

The construction industry has a key role to play in decarbonising the built environment and CCF is committed to lead on this agenda. CCF will support the challenging, but achievable, 1.5 degree aligned carbon target that was set by Travis Perkins Plc by 2035 which has been formally recognised by The Science Based Targets Initiative.

This investment in the development of this unique carbon reporting tool highlights CCF’s continued commitment to sustainability. It follows on from other key initiatives the distributor has introduced in recent years, such as the investment in a fully electric HGV, which was the first such vehicle of its kind in the UK at the time, and its current trial of HVO fuel at key branches.
