Covers shows off to Tunbridge Wells MP

Covers Timber & Builders Merchants welcomed Greg Clark, the Conservative MP for Tunbridge Wells, to its depot on Friday 25th March.

Clark was given a tour of the depot by store manager Max Dempster who explained its operations and products as well as how the business gets involved with community projects and charitable giving. He also met Covers’ Managing Director, Henry Green. The Green family has been running the independent business since the 1940s.

He said:  “It was great to visit Covers to help them celebrate their 175th anniversary and I enjoyed meeting the team at Tunbridge Wells and finding out more about the business. I was impressed with their agile response to the pandemic, where they took advantage of the flexibility that furlough offered to properly implement Covid measures that resulted in a successful trading period for the company. Covers clearly values and supports its staff well and I wish them every success for the next 175 years!”

Dempster added: “We’ve worked hard to become one of the leading businesses in the area. We’ve built a loyal customer base and encourage the local community to use us for their construction and DIY needs. It was a pleasure to welcome Greg as part of our 175th anniversary celebrations and show him around.”
