Sussex Builders’ Merchant raises over £3,600 for charity

A team from NYEs Building Supplies in Horsham has raised £3,600 for charity after driving hundreds of miles across Europe in an old banger.

Setting out from Reims in northern France in full fancy dress, the team’s trip was in aid of three charities – The Rainy Day Trust, Variety, and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Named the ‘NYEtriders’, Paul Arnold, Robert Karoly, Nick Canning and Dan Alstrom, who all work at the companynye rally pic and were all dressed up as superheroes and villains, made the trip crammed into a tiny Citroen C1 that cost less than £500.

The four-day rally route, named The Pavestone Rally, included various challenges for each team to complete along the way and travelled through Stuttgart in Germany, Salzburg in Vienna and into Venice, before finishing at the beautiful setting of Lake Como in Italy.

Nick Canning said “We had a fantastic time and so many great memories were made during our four day tour. Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped raise money for these very worthy causes.”
