A team of 16 SIG Roofing employees and suppliers completed a 200-mile charity bike ride to raise funds for Band of Builders and PASIC.
The group started the two-day challenge on June 18, setting off from SIG Roofing Colchester to catch the overnight ferry to Holland, traveling 103 miles to Cuijk, Netherlands, on day one, followed on the second day by a ride to Dortmund in Germany.
By the end of the challenge, their initial fundraising target of £25,000 had been surpassed, but the fundraising page will remain open until September to maximise donations.
This is the third year that SIG Roofing has brought together a growing team to support these charities, and everything raised will be shared equally between construction charity Band of Builders and PASIC, a charity supporting families whose children have received a cancer diagnosis.
Daniel Anstey, managing director of SIG Roofing Northern Division, commented: “There are some experiences that are almost impossible to put into words, and this is one of them. It was one of the toughest physical and mental challenges I’ve taken part in, yet nobody gave up.
“What I’ll remember most isn’t the miles or the pain; it’s the people. Friendships have been forged that will last a lifetime. Every single one of us dug deep, encouraged each other, and refused to let anyone be left behind. Knowing that every pedal stroke helped raise money for two incredible charities made every climb, every headwind, and every moment of suffering worthwhile.”
