Selco Builders Warehouse has raised £1 million for Cancer Research UK, marking a major milestone in the business’ long-standing partnership with the charity.
Since first sponsoring Cancer Research UK in 2022, Selco store colleagues have organised charity activities from raffles, giveaways and head shaves to bike rides, mountain climbs and marathons.
The milestone follows the recent Race Across Selco fundraising challenge, which saw Selco’s Senior Leadership Team, joined by Leyland CEO Martin Hastings, take on the challenge to travel from Selco York to Selco Exeter stores over three-days with only £100 each in their pockets, all whilst completing a series of checkpoints and fundraising tasks along the way.
The event supported both Cancer Research UK and Selco Community Heroes, raising a total of £82,0000 to fund life-saving cancer research as well as vital work carried out by community organisations across the country.
In recognition of this achievement, Eve Mitchell, Cancer Research UK’s associate director of supporter selationships, commented: “We’d like to congratulate everybody at Selco Builders Warehouse for raising an incredible £1 million for Cancer Research UK since 2022.
“Reaching this amazing milestone highlights their continued commitment to supporting our life-saving research and helping bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
“Huge thanks to Selco’s fantastic colleagues and customers who’ve made this milestone possible. Together we are making a difference. Together we are beating cancer.”
