Staff at builders merchant Jewson rescued three tins of paint which were being stolen from the Scarborough branch last week.
A man stole three tins of Dulux paint and then walked along Trafalgar Street West In Scarborough before he was challenged by the staff.
He dropped the tins and ran off and a description has been released to the local area.
