Ian Harte visited the new Travis Perkins branch that opened in Leeds on January 29, just under a mile from Leeds’ Utd’s iconic Elland Road stadium.
The former Leeds, Reading, Bournemouth and Ireland left-back paid a special visit to the newly opened branch, meeting customers and colleagues.
Harte said: “I have very fond memories of my time at Elland Road, so when Travis Perkins asked me to visit their newly opened branch I jumped at the chance to visit. I even practiced some freekicks into a cement mixer. They have a cracking set-up and I’ve no doubt that the new branch will become an integral part of the local community, providing all the advice, as well as building materials and equipment builders and contractors could need.”
He was pictured undertaking some Soccer AM style challenges with customers including hitting a football into a cement mixer. He also posed in a HGV and took some orders for customers too.
The new branch is two acres in size and boasts Travis Perkins Hire facilities that enable customers to hire all the tools, plant and specialist equipment they may need at any one time – all in one place.
Its brand new Benchmarx kitchen display showroom, which has been relocated from Leeds Copley Hill, and Hard Landscaping Display showcases Travis Perkins’ offering to customers.
Branch manager, Kane Collins says about the new opening, “It was amazing to have a Leeds United legend like Ian Harte visit our new flagship branch, to meet our customers and the 21-strong team of brilliant colleagues. Leeds is a city that is incredibly proud of its sporting icons.
“As a national business with local values, its important that we embrace that culture and become closer to our customers. We’re really excited to be opening our doors to the people of Leeds. The branch will have everything they need, when and where they need it, and will deliver value, convenience and consistency in a more sustainable branch, with a fantastic delivery and collection service that saves our customers time and money.
“The branch is a huge investment for the local area and is purpose built with an extensive product range to support our customers, new and existing with choice, quality, and brilliant service day-in, day-out. We’re looking forward to welcoming and supporting all of our customers and to continue doing what matters for the trade.”
