Infrastructure projects to face Reeves’ axe

A numnber of high-profile infrastructure projects, including the multi-billion pound Stonehenge Tunnel and Lower Thames Crossing are in doubt, as Rachel Reeves, the Chancelor of the Exchequer looks to fill a hole in the public finances.

Reeves is expected to announce plans today (July 29) to cancel major road tunnel projects and pause the already delayed hospital building programme as well as the HS2 tunnel extension to the Euston Terminus from Old Oak Common.
