Travis Perkins to save with new logistics deal

The deal is designed to save the builders merchant around 7% transport costs in its first year.

Under the three-and-a-half year contract DHL will operate from Travis Perkins’ distribution centre in Northampton, handling 160,000 deliveries and 20,000 loads a year to more than 1,000 branches.

DHL expects to reduce operating costs by improving trailer fill with the introduction of pallet collars and collaborative initiatives such as backhauling, shared loads and procurement.

Travis Perkins group distribution director Lee Morris said: “We are looking forward to working in closer partnership with DHL, whose collaborative and agile supply chain solution is projected to deliver significant operational efficiencies.”
