STARK Building materials UK has marked another step forward in its commitment to sustainability through the Ecogenesys electric recycling initiative.
The Ecogenesys model quantifies the carbon emissions, measured in tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent), generated for every tonne of electrical waste it collects and recycles on behalf of its members.
Having recently released the figures from its 2024 programme, Ecogenesys has estimated that STARK UK has saved the equivalent of 400kg of CO2.
As part of its partnership with Ecogenesys, STARK UK fully finances the collection and treatment of products at end-of-life, through traceable and fully auditable processors.
Sabrina Passley, head of sustainability for STARK UK, said; “This latest environmental certification recognises that we’re taking all the necessary steps to meet the regulatory requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive. By ensuring that the electrical waste from our operations and customer returns is collected, treated, and recycled responsibly via Ecogenesys, we can be confident we’re reducing our carbon footprint as part of a truly innovative programme.”
