Plumbers merchant announces record sales

Sales, at £33.3m were up 8%, although profits, at £1.2m, were down slightly. Sales director Peter Dixon says this reflects “the tougher market conditions”.

The company opened four new branches during the year, in Ashford, Christchurch, Lymington and Poole and an additional one has opened already this year, in Chichester.

Four new branches and Record sales in 2009 at independent merchant HPS and one further branch already opened in 2010.

“We are delighted to announce another year of record sales for 2009,” Dixon said. “I am delighted to announce these results which confirm our growth at a time when many merchants have seen a reduction in turnover. This further strengthens our position as the main independent alternative to the national merchant groups across the South.

“I am confident we can expect to see growth in our sales and profits this year, In addition we will continue to invest in new branch expansion when we come across suitable opportunities as well as further developing our existing web sales. We also anticipate a rapid increase in sales of renewable products over the next eighteen months and are looking to position ourselves accordingly ”
