The business has invested in a state-of-the-art shrink-wrap machine to improve the packaging of its MDF profile products. The new equipment delivers faster processing, reduced energy consumption and lower material waste while enhancing the presentation and protection of the company’s finished goods, ensuring products remain safe in transit and helping improve efficiencies for customers.

This forms part of a wider investment programme that included the refurbishment of its site in Newtown, Wales, where Pillo’s natural wood-fibre insulation is now being manufactured. The new production line has been designed to handle recycled MDF fibres recovered using technology licensed from MDF Recovery, based in Manchester.

Jonathan Grant, Chief Executive Officer of W.Howard, said: “Our investment programme underlines our commitment to building a sustainable and efficient business that continues to evolve. By moving our veneered product lines to Manchester, we have optimised space for the production of Pillo wood fibres in Wales and strengthened the operational foundations across the group. Every step of this process is about creating a better future for our products, our people and our customers.”

W.Howard Pillo will provide a new natural insulation option for timber frame, offsite and closed SIPS panel manufacturers. The new production capacity gives W.Howard the flexibility to meet growing demand while maintaining the quality and reliability for which the company is known.
