Cemex UK has reopened its Dove Holes Building Products facility in Derbyshire following the completion of a significant investment programme.
The investment at Dove Holes was carried out in two phases. The first, concluded in February 2025, focused on the introduction of void packing systems, providing an easier-to-handle solution for the transportation of dense and lightweight concrete blocks, while reducing the need for timber pallets.
In the second phase, which was completed this month, the facility underwent a shutdown to accommodate the installation of brand-new technology and machinery. This included a concrete press from Rekers, allowing Cemex to manufacture a variety of different-sized blocks and develop new products in the long term.
Materials managing director at Cemex UK, Lex Russell, said: “We are delighted to have completed the investment in our Dove Holes Building Products Facility, which has seen the installation of new machinery and technologies. This vital investment will help future-proof operational activities at the plant by incorporating modern systems that enhance the health and safety of employees, make site processes more efficient, and support our wider commitment to sustainability.
