Paul Hetherington has joined the Board of Directors of plumbing & heating buying group IPG.
A respected leader known for his strategic vision, digital innovation and a career spanning government, construction, manufacturing and merchanting, Hetherington’s appointment further reinforces The IPG’s commitment to empowering independents and strengthening collaboration through the Independent Alliance — a joint marketing initiative between The IPG and IBC, dedicated to promoting and supporting the success of independent businesses.
Hetherington’s experience includes senior leadership roles such as CEO of Marshall Tufflex, where he drove both sustainability and profitability. He currently serves as Founder and Chair of HIS Ltd., leading two Vistage groups in Sussex and London, and Non-Executive Chair of Offshore Solar Ltd. Additionally, he is Non-Executive Chair of IBC Group, Board Member of the Industrial Development Advisory Board (IDAB) and Non-Executive Director at BRE Group — the organisation behind BREEAM and LPCB.
His leadership will also strengthen The IPG’s focus on providing not just buying power and operational support, but also marketing services. These services are designed to help independent members and Independent Alliance partners boost their visibility, attract customers, and drive business growth in an increasingly competitive market.
