Huws Gray donates materials for Greenhouse

Local partnership delivers new greenhouse for Wishaw residents

Huws Gray has donated materials to Ochil House retirement housing, supporting a project carried out by volunteers from Mears Group’s North Lanarkshire branch.

This project, alongside a £1,500 grant from the Mears Foundation and support from the local building supplier, allowed the Wishaw retirement home to create a new community space for residents to garden.

Alan Burns, managing director of Mears Group, said: “This is a fantastic example of local teamwork. Thank you to our North Lanarkshire branch for volunteering their time and to our partners at Huws Gray for donating materials. It shows the power of partnership in supporting communities.”

The £1,500 grant was awarded during the Foundation’s September 2024 grant window, which focused on social inclusion, food poverty and environmental improvement.
