Timber importers, builders and plumbers merchant Haldane Group has appointed Peter Hindle MBE to the position of Regional Chairman at the company’s operations in England and the Isle of Man.

Hindle’s four decades’ experience in the merchant industry  include Managing Director of Jewson, CEO and General Delegate of Saint-Gobain in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa where he oversaw global expansion.  He was also chairman of the Builders Merchants Federation, and awarded an MBE in 2009 for services to the Building Industry and Charity.

Ian Haldane, Chairman of Haldane Group, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Peter to the Haldane Group Board. Peter brings with him a wealth of knowledge and insight obtained through his impressive career in the construction suppliers’ industry.

“Peter has had an immeasurable impact on the builders’ merchants’ sector, leading numerous companies through large periods of growth and expansion to become key global players within the market.

“We have exciting plans to grow the business in the next 5 years, backed by a significant investment in talent development, digitalisation, organic growth and continuous improvement plans, green field development, acquisition and sustainability.

The family-owned Haldane Group was founded in 1946 and has a reported turnover close to £200m.

Haldane Group trades from 22 locations located throughout the Midlands, North East and North West of England, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man.

The group’s trading brands include Haldane Fisher, G.E.Robinson, Prowood, Key Hardware, Plumbmaster and Bathline.
