Green Deal retro-fit postponed for four months

The Government’s flagship Green Deal initiative hit another obstacle this week when it was announced that the scheme has been delayed.

Building reports that retrofit work is now not expected to come to market until February 2013.

The Green Deal was due to start this October. However, energy secretary Ed Davey says that although the legal framework for the scheme will launch next month, the finance mechanism won’t kick in until January.

This means that householders will not be able to get any work done under the scheme until after January28 2013.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has said that households can start to be assessed for energy efficiency improvements from October, but that the work may not be carried out until February.
