Builders merchant rallys support

A builders merchant from Leeds is competing in the RAC Rally and has raised £3,000 for charity in the run-up.

Robin Shuttleworth, partner at JL Marshall Builders’ Merchants, and his co-driver Ronnie Roughead are driving a self-prepared Historic Specification Ford MK1 Escort.

The two have auctioned advertising squares on the car to numerous companies and friends throughout the North, in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The cheque was presented to David Hebden, a community fundraiser at Yorkshire Air Ambulance at a recent Media Day at Croft Circuit.

“It has been quite difficult raising the money in the current climate, but my suppliers, customers and friends have all entered into the spirit of it and helped us get this fantastic amount,” said Shuttleworth.

“Now the hard work really starts; I am looking forward to the rally and its challenges, and want to reach the finish in a reasonable position to reward my supporters.”
