Boiler theft at Travis Perkins branch

A boiler and electric showers were stolen from the Shrewsbury branch of builders merchant Travis Perkins last week.

Police were called to the branch following reports that three men in a white van had left the site with the items.

The van, containing items similar to those stolen, was found a short while later and two men have been arrested.

As thefts of metal have risen across the region, West Mercia Police have set up Operation Livewire, an ongoing campaign to tackle the increase. As part of the operation, any vehicle seen carrying scrap may be stopped and its occupants checked for the correct license and insurance.

Spot checks also will be made at scrap metal dealers across Shropshire.
