Anderton step up to homeless challenge

Anderton Concrete, part of Ibstock plc, pledged its support to help combat the homelessness crisis by walking 10km all in support of the charity, Shelter.

The walk, which took place on Wednesday the 11th of December, saw nine members of the Anderton Concrete team walk throughout Manchester city centre, with the goal of raising awareness of homelessness throughout the UK.  The walk took the team past iconic monuments including the Albert Memorial and the Old Trafford football stadium. 

Over the next two years, the Group will raise vital funds for the housing and homeless charity through a series of fundraising initiatives, with a target of £50,000 in the first year. As part of its efforts to raise funds, Ibstock has appointed 50 ‘charity champions’ across its operating sites. These champions were part of the charity partner decision-making process and will help bring staff together to have fun whilst raising money.

Shaun Forrester, sales director for Anderton Concrete said: “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Shelter to raise money for such a fantastic cause. We are working with the staff at the charity to raise awareness of homelessness and vital funds to support all of those people who may require it across the festive period. Homelessness does not discriminate and can affect anyone. With the weather getting colder and the nights getting longer, we are motivated to raise as much as we can to help support those affected just in time for Christmas.”
