Jewson in training partnership with housing trust

A new renewable energy training academy has been set up by Golden Gates Housing Trust in partnership with builders merchant Jewson.
The specialist school has been set up by the trust to offer its staff and apprentices the chance to learn all about the new eco technology being introduced by the housing company to help tackle tenants bills.

GGHT chairman Roy Smith said: “As an organisation we are committed to investing in renewable technologies and helping our customers to escape fuel poverty and improve the quality of their lives.

“The academy will enable us to continue to build our expertise across a range of technologies and will help us to achieve our aim of having renewable technology installed in 15% of our homes by 2014.”

The trust has gained MCS accreditation which means its own staff can install things like solar panels on to properties.

“Renewable energy is a fast moving technology like mobile phones so we want our staff to understand the technology off site and then they can work on them for the houses and tenants.”
