The GBC’s remit is to help forge partnerships between government, industry and other stakeholder groups. And, says md Howard Grant, Unimer has already adopted business sustainability practices that integrate economic, environmental, and social management.

“As an individual company and as a membership organisation consisting of over 1,200 merchant businesses across the UK, we firmly believe that sustainability should be treated as an opportunity and not a threat. It is an issue that will not go away,” said Mr Grant.

“In joining UK GBC, we are determined to keep Unimer and its merchant membership at the forefront of the developments on the sustainability agenda. By monitoring and influencing changes in government initiatives and legislation, we can forecast future trends in innovative building materials and technologies. Unimer’s involvement will ensure that our members’ supply-chain meets all current and future building requirements”.
