The funds meant that 35 children with a life-threatening or terminal disease, and their families were provided with a much needed holiday at one of the Charity’s two respite houses.

Fundraising activities included hiking along the length of Hadrian’s Wall, charity bike rides, an “It’s a Knockout” event and selling badges on trade counters.

Rainbow Trust chief executive Heather Wood said: “The enthusiasm of BSS Industrial staff has been overwhelming. It’s fantastic news that this work will carry on for another year, raising more funds for a very worthy cause. We are very grateful.”
