Selco Builders Warehouse has announced four winners of its nationwide community heroes campaign, which celebrates charities and projects through a combination of donated building materials and a £20,000 prize pool.
The nationwide campaign, running since February 2025, has supported 40 organisations who each received £1,000 worth of building materials from their local Selco store. Altogether, £60,000 has been gifted to charitable causes, nearly five times more than in previous years, thanks to record public engagement and high calibre of entries.
First place goes to Cleopatra’s Legacy CIC from Kent, which has been awarded with the top prize fund of £10,000. The charity provides specialist products and compassionate support to people affected by breast cancer, hair loss and long-term illness, offering specialist products including wigs, headwear, breast forms, mastectomy bras and private fittings.
Second place has been awarded to Together for Cinema CIC, a Surrey-based organisation, which creates home cinema experiences in children’s hospices and family care locations across the UK. It will receive £5,000 to put towards several cinema projects the team has planned next year.
Third place has been jointly awarded to two organisations, which will each receive £2,500. LATCH (Leeds Action To Create Homes) which renovates empty properties in its community, turning them into homes that support people on their journey towards independence, and SPIN (Supporting People In Need), a Manchester-based charity, who will use the £2,500 funding to continue supporting the needs of homeless people in the area.
Commercial director at Selco Builders Warehouse, David Lennon, commented, “I want to say a huge congratulations to every person and organisation that took part in the Selco Community Heroes campaign. Every year, this campaign reminds us of the extraordinary work being carried out by organisations across the UK; the passion, commitment and resilience shown by all our finalists is truly inspiring.”
