PHG: buying group adds one more

Solihull based Gas Centre Ltd has joined independent, specialist plumbing & heating buying group PHG with effect from February 1.

Gas Centre principals Dave Bewick and Mark Barnes were previously with A&B Plumbing Supplies which they helped to build into a £16m turnover business before selling out to Jewson in 2006.

A former NBG member, Gas Centre has two branches and a sister company, Bathroom Centre Ltd.

A third branch is planned to open later this year.

PHG chairman David Pochin said: “Gas Centre were early applicants for PHG membership and we are very pleased to now have them on board with us. Dave and Mark are well on their way to replicating their previous success with A&B and they will doubtless prove an asset to the PHG Group.

“Having doubled our size in little over a month we are now pausing new membership applications until April to allow us to focus on the effective integration of the enlarged group which now stands at 20 members.”

For Gas Centre, Barnes said, “We are very excited at the prospect of working with the likeminded members of the PHG team and we are certain that membership will enable us to rapidly grow our business.”
