Obituary: John Bate

Rowlinson Timber has announced the death of its managing director John Bate on May 25 after a long battle against cancer.

Obituary: John Bate

Often described as a true gentleman with an unequivocal knowledge of timber, he was a prominent figure in the trade, creating long lasting relationships with both customers and suppliers with his honest and endearing manner.

He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Kim and two sons Joseph and Tom.

Editors note: I and everyone at BMJ send our condolences to John’s friends, family and colleagues. He was a lovely man, passionate about his industry and always keen to talk about the issues. Even when he disagreed with me, we always parted friends. A sad loss.
