Next generation buys Halls

After 26 years at the helm, Terry Hall has stepped down as managing director of the Halls group of timber and builders merchants, handing the reins to his eldest son James with immediate effect.

Next generation buys Halls

James, who has bought the company from his father, is the third generation to head the multi-million pound Norfolk and Suffolk-based group. Terry’s youngest son, Chris Hall, has been appointed on to the Halls Group’s main board of directors.

James Hall said of his move to md, “I’m delighted to be the new owner of my father’s buoyant and successful builders merchants group, and be taking control at a time when we are planning an expansion of the supply outlets as well as developing a major new e-commerce website for builders and contractors in the region to fast order materials direct on to sites.”

He added, “I know dad will miss the buzz of the building industry, but at least it gives him time to get more practice on the golf course and reduce his handicap, which was always a talking point with some of our suppliers and clients attending the Halls Group’s corporate golf days!”
