MKM opens Green Room in Glasgow

Independent builders merchant MKM Building Supplies has invested a five-figure sum in a green showcase at its Glasgow branch.
The Green Room specialises in all forms of renewable energy and sustainable technology, aimed at the building trade and consumers alike.

MKM has also created a conference facility, as part of the project to deliver training to industry professionals and homeowners wanting to find out more about lowering their annual energy bills and carbon footprint. The facility will display almost all renewable technologies currently on the market, allowing people to see how they work and which ones will help them most.

Craig Millar of MKM in Glasgow said that creating the Green Room had been part of the plan for MKM since the branch opened last year.

“The new Green Room is divided into six zones, all of which focus on a different aspect of renewable energy and sustainable technology, starting with insulation and taking in water conservation, biomass, wind energy, solar PV systems and geo-thermal,” Mr Millar explained.

“For the first time, builders, architects and homeowners will be able to see all the different technologies working in one place, which will lead to a greater understanding of what best suits their needs.

“With the conferencing facility also available, anyone wanting to access more in-depth knowledge – such as construction professionals or apprentices just coming into the trade – will be able to do so.”
