Institute launches Practical Skills 2014

The Institute of Builders Merchants (IoBM) is again challenging merchants across the country to compete in the Practical Building Skills Challenge event 2014.
Taking place on Thursday 23 October at Leeds College of Building, the IoBM is looking for merchant teams of four to compete in this year’s challenge.

Now in its third year, the IoBM Practical Building Skills Challenge will test merchants’ joinery, block paving, plastering and tiling skills in a fun and rewarding, team building atmosphere.

Designed to offer merchant staff a taste of some of the main building disciplines and to underpin product and practical knowledge, the Practical Building Skills Challenge event is set to be an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all merchants who take part. Every participant will receive one year’s free membership to the IoBM, while first and second places will be awarded special prizes.

Steve Sellick, president of the IoBM, said: “Every year we get more and more merchants testing their skills and competing in the challenge. The feedback is always really positive and it’s clear to see that everyone who participates gets a lot out of the experience. I’m looking forward to welcoming this year’s entrants and crowning a new winner of the IoBM Practical Building Skills Challenge 2014.”
