The charity is currently feeding 923,572 of the poorest children around the world, most of them suffering from war, poverty, famine, or natural disaster. The rucksacks provide children with the clothes and basic equipment they need to go to school, and the food to feed them whilst they are there.

The rucksacks were assembled by staff at building supplies company Kent Blaxill for onward distribution to Malawi.

The collection was organised by Monica Hartley who said: “Initially we were aiming for eight rucksacks but things rapidly snowballed as people got into the festive mood with rucksacks coming in from across the company.”
