Karts bring in £3k for Rainy Day

This year’s challenge, the event’s 20th, took place at the TeamSport track in Warrington on June 1, with competitors taking part in a two-hour endurance race, rather than a grand prix.

The victorious team – the one completing the most laps in the two hours –

was Leyland Darts team from PPG, who narrowly beat Workhouse Marketing’s Workhouse Wheelies.

Joint managing director of Stax Trade Centres, David Hibbert, said: “The Warrington three tier circuit is one of the best in the UK and the Rainy Day Trust karting challenge is always a fun event.

“Because this year’s event allowed all karters more driving time it was one of the best ever and I am delighted we managed to raise another £3,000 for this very worthwhile charity.”

The fastest lap trophy was awarded to CIC and the fastest lady trophy was given to Calor Team 2’s Harriet Walker.

Rob Walker, also from Calor Team 2, was handed the bent axle award for doing a gymnastic roll out of his kart during a changeover.
