Jewson supports young people at The Skills Show

Jewson will be offering guidance and career advice at The Skills Show, November 19th – 21st, the UK’s largest skills and careers event.
The annual event gives 75,000 young people the chance to talk to different organisations and prospective employers from a range of industries.

The Skills Show also plays host to the national finals of the WorldSkills UK Skills Competition, a contest where young people can demonstrate their talents across a range of sectors.

Jewson is a lead competition supplier for a number of these competitions, including the Landscaping and Carpentry categories, and will be providing a range of materials to support the competitors’ various projects.

Visitors will also be invited to hear Deirdre Stewart, HR Director at Saint-Gobain Building Distribution, the parent company of Jewson, offer her thoughts on how you can have a long-term, varied and flexible career in the construction industry.

Stewart said: “The Skills Show is a key event for our industry as it builds awareness of the construction sector as an interesting and varied career option.

“At a time when skills are in such short supply for the built environment, it’s important that the industry demonstrates the great opportunities available to young people.”
