Builders merchant Jewson held a 17-hour golf marathon in aid of Banardos, the children’s charity.
Members of staff from the North Shields, Prudhoe and Newcastle Central branches raised £600 during the marathon event which started at Stocksfield Golf Course at 4.20am and fiished, 72-holes later, at 9.30pm that evening. Throughout the course of the day they walked more than 16 miles – each carrying their own 25kg golf bags.
Mark O’Halleron, sales executive at North Shields scored a hole-in-one.
Barnardo’s is Jewson’s charity of choice for 2011/12 as part of its ‘Together’ charity programme. Since its launch in 2002 the programme has raised almost £2 million for some great causes including Help the Hospices, the British Heart Foundation, Great Ormond Street and Cancer Research UK.
