JB Kind Doors donates £6,300 to Burton & District Mind

UK door distributor JB Kind Doors has raised £6,300 for Burton & District Mind, after two years of charity fundraising.

JB Kind’s team of 45 employees, always nominate their preferred choice of charity and back in January 2022, it was clear that they wished to support a charity which helped people’s mental health. The group recognised the toll that the Covid pandemic had taken on everyone’s mental health and set to work fundraising for their local branch of Mind.JB Kind cheque presentation Mind

JB Kind managing director, James Cadman, said: “Our team always put the ‘fun’ into fundraising and work hard to create an exciting calendar of events. This year’s highlight was definitely the 80’s quiz night and we were so pleased with the effort everyone made dressing up in 80’s inspired outfits, as well as their generosity and support.

“Working with Burton & District Mind has also helped us as a business, improving our mental health awareness. Through a series of inciteful workshops, our workforce has benefited from developing a better understanding of mental health, including strategies to help them support their own mental health and well-being.”

Fundraising events have included a very successful charity Golf Day in 2022, as well as other activities like raffles, cake sales and sports sweepstakes. In October, the team held an 80’s themed Quiz Night, in celebration of the decade in which JB Kind started selling doors and their ‘40 years in Doors’ anniversary.

Burton and District Mind help more than 3,000 people a year recover from the wide spectrum of mental health needs through high quality counselling, activity groups, and one to one support for people in distress or disabled by mental illness.

Keri Lawrence, development and sustainability officer for Burton and District Mind, added: “We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. The number of people experiencing mental health problems has increased due to the cost-of-living crisis and the aftermath of the pandemic.

“In the prolonged Mental Health Emergency, we need to do even more. More for our young people, more for people living in poverty and more with the communities who we have not connected with before. The support from JB Kind Doors has been staggering; £6,300 is an incredible amount over the last two years, particularly when we have all had to tighten belts over the last year.”
