Builders Merchants Journal – BMJ Publishing to Builders Merchants and the UK merchanting industry for more than 95 years
The Grimsby branch of builders merchant Jackson Building Centres was featured on BBC TV’s Crimewatch programme on Monday night after falling victim to fraud.
A man ordered industrial clothing and roofing materials, claiming to be buying on behalf of a company. But when the invoice was sent, the company denied all knowledge of the man or the order.
The fraudster drove a white Mercedes Sprinter van with false registration plates.
Police are looking into the possibility that the incident may be linked with similar crimes in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Thames Valley.
