England and British & Irish Lions star Jack Nowell was special guest appearance at a training session for two junior teams at Exeter Saracens, thanks to builders merchant Selco who opened a branch in the city last year.
The boys under 13s and girls under 14s were the two groups to benefit in a session held at the Saracens’ home ground of Exhibition Fields in Whipton. Departing Exeter Chiefs winger Nowell said: “It was a fantastic night and great to see so many young players thoroughly enjoying their rugby. The coaches were doing a great job and there were certainly some talented players there. It took me back to my time playing junior rugby in Cornwall – they are the best days of your life and you could tell there was a fantastic atmosphere around the club. I was delighted to link up with Selco for this visit and hopefully the juniors enjoyed it just as much as I did.”
Martyn Goldsborough, chairman of junior rugby at Exeter Saracens said: “It really was a night to remember for the club and some great memories for our juniors to take away.
“All our youngsters look up to Jack for what he has done with Exeter Chiefs, England and the Lions and to have him attend a training session and get really involved in the practice was a great thrill.”
Carine Jessamine, our marketing director, said: “As a company, our ethos is to support the communities in which we operate and we were delighted to join forces with Jack to deliver this training session.
“Exeter Saracens is a real community club with 22 teams and hundreds of members. We hope the junior players involved enjoyed an experience they won’t forget with a training session with one of their sporting heroes.”
