Hanson adds asphalt Collect and Go

Hanson has launched a new Collect & Go service for asphalt customers at eight of its sites across the UK.

First trialled at the Leeds plant in West Yorkshire, the Collect & Go service is now being rolled out to seven further sites – Bradford, Criggion (mid-Wales), Dagenham, Bulls Lodge (Essex), Allington (Kent), Hingston Down (Cornwall) and Southampton plants. Aimed at local contractors who want to drop in at the plant first thing in the morning, collect a small load and get back to work quickly without having to wait, the service offers customers collecting up to five tonnes of standard asphalt products such as binder or dense surface course a priority time slot between 6am and 9am. Payment can be made on account or by card at the time of ordering.

On-site shops have also been created to sell the essentials required to lay the materials, including spades, rakes, sealants and wheelbarrows. New pedestrian walkways have been created and signage improved at each of the eight sites to ensure customer safety. The correct PPE must be worn at all times and social distancing measures are in place in accordance with government Covid-19 advice.

“We have been delighted with the results from the Leeds trial,” said Gareth Day, Hanson UK asphalt managing director. “Feedback from customers has also been very positive, in terms of both the quality of product and service.”
