Global Stone MD retires after 12 years

Spittal joined the supplier, based in Little Tey, Colchester and sister company of independent builders merchant Kent Blaxill, in January 2003 when the company was in its infancy.

She came to Global Stone with a background in law, having previously worked for one of the largest legal companies in London.

“Working for Global Stone has been a real pleasure”, said Spittal. “It has allowed me to combine business acumen with my personal passion for these products and the garden landscaping industry.”

She has held a number of roles during her time with Global Stone, including general manager before being elected for managing director in 2012.

“It’s been very rewarding to take on the challenges faced by our business year after year, develop strategies to overcome these and witness continuous growth of Global Stone due to our passion for the company and its success,” she said.

“The industry has changed dramatically in the last 12 years. Consumer needs today are primarily focused on good quality products and customer service, something that has always been part of the fundamental, core values of the company from the very beginning.

“I am incredibly proud to have developed a company with loyal customers who have been with us since day one, something that speaks for itself.”

She will be officially retiring on the 31st December this year. Julian Wood, current sales and marketing director at Global Stone has been elected to replace Shirley.
