Freight association launches safe lorry loading DVD

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) and the Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI) have jointly produced a DVD covering the most common applications and uses of lorry loaders, with a strong emphasis on basic operating skills and awareness of the associated hazards.
The DVD covers new requirements detailed in BS7121, the British Standard Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Cranes: Part 4 – Lorry Loaders, and is intended to complement periodic and ongoing formal training and assessment.

Disc one includes three films featuring common applications. Each film is between 30-36 minutes in duration and is broken down into five modules of between 6-10 minutes each. Key topics covered include pre-operational checks, safe positioning and siting of the lorry loader, and operating tips.

Disc two contains a wealth of useful follow-up material including practice questions to ensure understanding, and a copy of the ALLMI/CPA Best Practice Guide for the Safe Use of Lorry Loaders.

The Safe use of lorry loaders DVD is available from Shopfta at £25 for FTA members, £40 for non-members, with discounts for multiple copies. Orders can be placed at www.shop.fta.co.uk
