FMB Scottish leader’s firm in liquidation

The Scotish president of the Federation of Master Builders has resigned after his firm went into liquidation.

Najem Al Hasan’s company Scotia Construction was reported by the Daily Record and Sunday Mail as being put into liquidation at the Sherrif’s Court in Livingston by one of its suppliers – believed to be Jewson – over unpaid debts.

Hasan was re-elected Scottish FMB president last November.

At the time he said: “Very few SMEs have the resources to chase all monies due to them and litigation is frequently too expensive – many subcontractors go out of business with thousands of pounds owed to them by principal contractors.”
