The materials included a generous amount of sawn carcassing and shingle, turning the garden’s raised front patio area from blank crazy paving into a wildflower patch with perennial shrubs.

Patcham Memorial Hall was originally founded in memory of the local men and women who went to the Great War. It has been serving the village and parish of Patcham since 1924.

Wade Ayling, depot manager of Covers Brighton, said: “We are always keen to do whatever we can for local charities and community groups. We are therefore delighted to help Patcham Memorial Hall with its garden transformation. We hope that visitors will enjoy the garden for many years to come.”

Jan Mulreany, Patcham Memorial Hall Trustee and Charity Secretary, added: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at Covers for their generosity and help to get this project completed. The garden looks wonderful and we are looking forward to seeing it blossoming in spring.”
