Construction industry loses 63,000 jobs

Over 63,000 jobs w3ere lost by the construction industry in the first three months of 2010, according to the Office of National Statistics.

At the end of march there were 2.045m people employed in the sector, compared to 2.108m at the end of 2009.

Overall, there has been a 10% drop in total numbers employed over the year.
