Bradfords buy timber company

Bradford and Sons have announced the acquisition of timber importer and processing business, W.J. Handrahan & Son Ltd.
WJH& operates from two facilities at Holbeache Sawmills, Kingswinford in the West Midlands and Sherwood Sawmills, Huthwaite in the East Midlands and employs about 120 people across the two sites.

Bradfords Executive Chairman Andrew Merriam said: “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of W.J. Handrahan & Son Ltd and delighted to welcome the management and staff of WJH&S to the Bradfords Group. The acquisition will strengthen our existing Snows Timber business enabling us to deliver our offering to a wider geographical customer base”.

WJH&S chairman Bill Handrahan sold the company after deciding to step down: “Having made the decision to retire, I was anxious that WJH&S became part of a larger organisation with the necessary resources to continue development of the business. I am therefore pleased that, following discussions, the WJH&S business is to become part of the Bradfords Group which has an excellent record of growth and profitability,” he said.
