Builders Merchants Journal – BMJ Publishing to Builders Merchants and the UK merchanting industry for more than 95 years
Shares in Wolseley have risen by more than 2% today amid speculation that an interested party may have approached the chain about a potential takeover.
There are currently very few details and the national merchant chain Wolseley has declined to comment.
One city insider has cited US home improvement mega-retailer Home Depot as potentially being in the frame. However, it’s a name that consistently crops up in connection with speculation about UK companies being sold, and has yet to make any investment in the UK.
The speculation follows a weakening financial performance from the chain which reported a further dip in its April figures.
